Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager has revealed that he is not 100 percent certain that his side is in the title race of the Premier League irrespective of being 6 points clear at the half-way mark.
The Boxing Day thrashing by Liverpool of Newcastle along with the loss of Manchester City to Leicester implies that they have gone 7 points ahead of the team of Pep Guardiola in the 20th round of fixtures. However, Tottenham, Spurs have come up as the contender for the title with their own festive demolition by defeating Bournemouth by 5–0. This moved them up into the second position.
The Reds are the only team in the last decade of Premier League who hasn’t won the league even after being at the top during the time of Christmas by doing so in 2008-09 and also 2013–14.
However, this particular side of Liverpool has been described by many people as the best team of the Merseyside outfit in the era of the Premier League as they went unbeaten in the first nineteen games. They have won 16 and have conceded only 7 goals in the process.
Still, Klopp is not sure that Liverpool who played against Arsenal will surely contend for the title with several games yet to go. Chelsea, Leicester, and Manchester City had been over the top during the festive period and have gone on to win the league in the last three years but he says that they had Manchester City on their back and not Tottenham.
