Premier League champions announced Diego Costa moving to Atletico Madrid. Transfer fee of the deal is more than £50m.
Antonio Conte deemed Costa as a surplus and kept him on the bench. Since the summer, 28-years-old player was an exile in at Stamford Bridge. He didn’t go to the pitch for 98 days. And today Chelsea has agreed to the terms of his leaving.
The official statement says, “FC Chelsea has agreed to terms with Atletico Madrid for the move of Diego Costa. The transfer will be a subject to the agreement of medical and personal terms”.
Even if Costa joins to Atletico, he cannot play for the club until January when a transfer embargo is lifted.
As for Chelsea, Alvaro Morata will replace Costa. Antonio Conte’ side bought him from Real Madrid for a £60m transfer fee.
Costa joined Chelsea in 2014 for £32m. He scored 59 times and provided 24 assists in 120 matches while being in the squad. Brazilian helped to win two Premier League titles and one League Cup.
