Real Madrid is reportedly offering Mauricio Pochettino 85 million euros to manage their team. And, Pochettino is also seemingly dissatisfied with affairs with Spurs. Real need a new manager because they gave the push to their current one Julen Lopetegui. Initially, Lopetegui had a three year contract with Real. Santiago Solari is standing in as a temporary measure though he was tipped to get the post permanently according to informed sources.
The five-year deal worth £85 million will include a bigger say for the manager in matters of transfers. Pochettino could leave Spurs and head to Real Madrid despite Spurs preparing to move to their new stadium. Initially, it was thought that Pochettino will turn down any offers because of this new move by Spurs to their stadium.
Solari is in temporary charge as a stop gap only. Pochettino was the first choice to replace Zinedine Zidane for Madrid. Zidane left in summer along with Cristiano Ronaldo who went to join Juventus. They doubled on their original offer of £40 million and are waiting for a response. Real will have to pay compensation to Spurs because Pochettino has only recently signed a new contract. It is hoped that the slim chance of Spurs reaching knockout stage of the Champions League might be an incentive for staying. Roberto Martinez is also a serious candidate for the Real Madrid posting. Pochettino has frustration with the Spurs failing to get a single signing as yet.
“Real Madrid announces that Julen Lopetegui will be the coach of the first team during the next three seasons,” the club said on appointing Lopetegui in the initial stages.
