Quique Sánchez Flores’ side is still awaiting their first win of the season but Espanyol have shown enough to suggest they will cause Real Madrid more problems than they did last year when they were humiliated by Los Blancos with an aggregate score of 12-0. They’ve scored 7 goals in their opening 3 games but only have 2 points to show for it. They came via a 2-2 draw at home to Malaga and 1-1 stalemate at Real Sociedad last time out. They threw away leads in both games having done likewise on the opening day at Sevilla when they were beaten 6-4.

Meawhile, it has been a great start to the season for head-coach Zinedine Zidane and his team although not without the odd scare. They got a real fright in midweek from Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League. Lisbon side were leading 1-0 at the Bernabeu going into the final two minutes but late goals from Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning free-kick and Alvaro Morata’s header secured an all important late victory for Real. They also top La Liga table with a prefect 100% record after wins against Real Sociedad, Celta Vigo and Osasuna. They normally enjoy their games against Espanyol and can always rely on strong backing at the RCDE Stadium and are bidding for a 5th straight win at the stadium here.

Espanyol Vs Real Madrid: Head-to-Head stats

Real Madrid have won all of the last 8 meetings. They won both meetings 6-0 last season.
