Wayne Rooney affected Walcott’s decision to move to Everton

Everton has completed the signing of 28-year-old Theo Walcott from Arsenal. The total amount of transfer fee worth more than £20m. Walcott signed a three-and-a-half year contract and told that Wayne Rooney tempted him to make this decision.

Theo Walcott is an old Arsenal player who was at the club almost 12 years. He made 397 appearances and scored 108 goals. Official Arsenal’s statement says: «We all thank Theo for his contribution to the squad and we wish him bright future”. Arsene Wenger didn’t want to lose Walcott, however, he said that it was a sensitive subject in a World Cup year.

In turn, Walcott told in the interview: “I’ve had numerous chats with Wayne and he is the massive factor, who tempted me to move to Everton. He told the club is a great place to play and that is on the up.

It’s a club with a great history and I’m very ambitious that I’ve come here. I hope to push the squad to the next level. I’m proud that I managed to score 19 goals last season. I hope I can bring to Everton much more of attacking force”.
