Schick Becomes Euro 2020 Top Scorer As Czech Republic Get Knocked Out

Patrick Schick scored his fifth goal in the Euro 2020 in the 2–1 defeat to Denmark. Even though the Czech Republic was knocked out of the tournament, Schick is now the tournament’s joint-top scorer with Cristiano Ronaldo. At the beginning of the tournament, not many people would have thought at this point Schick would be ahead of the likes of Harry Kane. This tournament’s unpredictability has made the life of soccer bettors very challenging. Sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the opportunity to bet on the tournament by checking out the for amazing offers and bet on the remaining matches. It is unfortunate that Schick cannot add to his tally, and since he did have any assist, he comes in second.

Schick and Ronaldo are closely followed by Romelu Lukaku and Karim Benzema, who have four goals each. However, France and Belgium have both been knocked out of the tournament. This means that Schick will end the tournament with more goals than two of the most talented strikers in the tournament.

The other players who are still in the tournament that could overtake Schick in the top scorer’s ranking are Sterling and Kane. The two England forwards have what it takes to add to their three goals. However, sterling is known for being wasteful sometimes. As a result, he might not get as many goal-scoring chances at this moment in the tournament as he did in the group stages.

On the other hand, Kane is more clinical and can score a goal out of nothing. Therefore, there is a higher likelihood that he could score more than Schick and Ronaldo. Whether or not that is possible remains to be seen.

Schick Overtook Milan Baros

Schick’s fifth goal at Euro 2020 also enabled him to surpass Milan Baros’ record. Initially, the former Liverpool striker was the Czech Republic’s player to have scored many goals (four) in a single European Championship edition.

Little was known about the Bayer Leverkusen striker who has spent several seasons in the Serie A. But he has introduced himself to the world soccer fans by his achievements in the tournament. In fact, reports emerging from Italy claim that Italian giants AC Milan are willing to price away the forward from Bayer Leverkusen. The striker would also get offers from other top teams interested in his services.

Schick received a lot of applause from the Czech Republic’s coaching team. For instance, Tomas Galasek, the assistant coach, played down comparisons between Schick and Baros. Tomas claimed that Baros played around players like Jan Koller, who provided assists for his goals. On the other hand, he claims that Schick created goals for himself and has a fierce left foot.

West Ham full-back Vladamir Coufal also agreed that it was hard to compare the two. Coufal claims that Patrick is a more technical player that prepares more in his approach to finishing. Nevertheless, the team loved their teammate’s achievement. Coufal contributed to Schick’s achievement by providing the assist for the first goal.
