Manchester United started their domestic season with a three-game winning streak, but what was not expected is the two-match losing run that they are having right now. The drop started when they lost to cross-city archrivals Manchester City, 1-2, on September 10th also at the Old Trafford. They next defeat to lowly team Watford, 1-3, last Sunday at the Vicarage Road as the team experienced their first back-to-back defeat under Jose Mourinho’s patronage. Manchester United made sure it wasn’t to be four losses in a row on Wednesday though, with goals from Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, and young prodigy Marcus Rashford giving them a comfortable 3-1 win over Northampton Town in the EFL Cup.

Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri’s men defeated freshly-promoted Sean Dyche’s side Burnley, 3-0,at the King Power Stadium last Saturday. A couple of goals from new boy forward Islam Slimani gave the champions a 2-0 lead. An own goal from Burnley defender Ben Mee at the 78th completed the three-goal loot of Leicester. It was the second win in three games for the Foxes after starting the season on a two-game winless spell. But a victory against Burnley followed, saw them field a rather strong team in the EFL Cup. They went 2-0 up against Chelsea but were pegged back by the end of 90 minutes, with the game being taken to extra time and Leicester losing 4-2.
