Charles Aranguiz was man of the match who led his team to make clean sheet over the defending champions. The Brazilian born striker Diego Costa got first chance of scoring, but failed to convert it into goal. Just after five minutes, the Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso picked up Claudio Bravo’s clearance to midfield but his back pass was correctly judged by Barcelona’s forward Alexis Sanchez. He found Vidal & makes great pass combination, defeat Spain defense & passed the ball to Charles Aranguiz. Vargas pivoted to the right and dispatched low to score from 6 yards & Chile took lead of 1-0 over the Spanish Fury.

Although Spanish players were enjoying the ball possession, but, they failed to score. Just before 2 minutes of first half, Chile awarded free kick & it was Alexis Sanchez who took responsibility of scoring from outside the box. The shot was on the target but, Casillas blocked it. Aranzguiz collected the ball & passed the ball into the net. Before half time, Chile were leading with 2-0.

Costa had also missed a good chance as Spain looked to get back into the game, but after a decent spell to start, they simply seemed to run out of ideas and the game became increasingly comfortable. Chance began to peter out & Ramos sending an overhead kick almost out of the stadium with minutes left to play was one of many symbolic moments. Things were all going wrong for the Spanish players, missing chances &  poor defending was the main reason of Spain’s two defeat in a row.

With back to back two wins, Chile have qualified for the pre quarter finals of 2014 FIFA World Cup. With back to back defeats, Spain eliminated from this competition which is considered as their worst tournament in the history of football World Cup. No one expected this kind of performance from the current champions. They are now at the bottom of the Group B standings. Chile Players were outstanding throughout the game. Their attack & defense was remarkable which added some unforgettable moments in the history of football.
