The Spanish football team have a good team squad, but the defense & lack of top strikers is the limitation of this team. World Cup Performance of Spain For the first time, they qualified for FIFA World Cup of 1934 which was organized in Italy. They ended their first world tournament at fifth spot. Since 1934, they’ve won this competition for the first time in 2010 world cup of South Africa. In 2010 world cup, they played total 7 games out of which they won 6 games & lost remaining. The defending champions registered their biggest win against Bulgaria by huge margin of 13–0. It was played on 21 May 1933. Their biggest defeat was recorded on 4 June 1928 & 9 December 1931 against Italy & England respectively. They lost both games with final score of 1–7. Along with defending world champions, they are also the champions of Europe. After defeating Italy in final match of UEFA Euro 2012, they lifted the trophy of European championship 2012 for the third time. They also won summer Olympics of 1992. But they were failed to win Confederation cup & faced loss against Brazil in 2013 & finished that competition in second place. Fernando Torres was the top goal scorer of Confederation Cup 2012.

Qualification Round Played:8, Won: 6, Draws:2, Loss:0, GF:14, GA:3, Points:20 Spain qualified for this world cup without losing any game in qualification round. They played total of 8 games in Group I against France, Finland, Georgia & Belarus. After playing 8 games, they scored 14 goals & conceded just 3 goals. With 20 points total, they finished qualification round at first spot. Spain’s top goal scorer was Pedro who scored 4 goals in qualification round. So far they’ve made 14 appearances in world cup & this is the fifteenth appearance of this national football team. Their first match is scheduled against the current vice champions Netherlands. So it will be interesting to watch both teams playing against each other in this tournament.
