Real Madrid head into this match having now found better form with five wins on the trot in all competitions. Two of these results are however in the Champions League against Basel and Ludogorets which is good for the Spanish club as they hope to retain the Champions League trophy for two years running.
League for however hasn’t been the best although they have won their last three in convincing style. Being currently four points behind from Barcelona, Real are at 5th position and will seriously need to start putting some better league results together if they wish to mount a challenge this season.
Athletic Bilbao have actually shocked this season having only earned four points in six league games. They started the season so well with a 3–0 victory over Levante but have since then lost three and drawn another. In the Europa League they have also been disappointing having drawn against Shakhtar Donetsk and recently lost against BATE 2–1 away from home. They are on course for another loss against the Champions League and Cope del Rey winners as Real look to make it six wins out of six.
