Real Madrid have won the race to sign Martin Odegaard. Having one of the best team squads all over the world, Real Madrid still looking to make the perfect squad. Actually, the Spanish giants are making it sure for their future plans as they are signing Norway midfielder Martin Odegaard. The 16 year old footballer has undertaken a whistle stop tour of Europe’s elite clubs and is posed to make a decision on who he will join from Stromsgodset.
Europe’s top football clubs were in race in order to sign the young talented midfielder. Other clubs are Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Barcelona. The current World Champions appear to be in pole position in the race for his signature after the youngster jetted in from South Oslo.
He played his first game for national team at the age of 15. He was expected to move to FC Bayern from Stromsgodset in the Tippeligaen back home. However, reports indicate that following Madrid’s decision to step in, Odegaard will become the first Norwegian to play for the Real Madrid.
Odegaard is the youngest player in the history of the European Championship after coming on in Norway’s win over Bulgaria at the age of 15 years and 300 days. But John Arne Riise insists there too much pressure on his compatriot’s shoulders.
“I feel a bit sorry for the boy. With anticipation the pressure rises. There is talk of Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern, Liverpool and Arsenal. It makes people expect a lot. But he does seem to have his feet firmly on the ground and it seems like he has a great family around him.” Riise said.
He will be signed in this month, although he may be allowed to stay with his current club for the time being.
