PSG – Manchester City. 28.09.2021. Announcement and forecast for the Champions League match

On Tuesday, September 28, the 2nd round of the Champions League match will take place, in which PSG will host Manchester City. The teams will meet in Paris at the Parc des Princes stadium, with a capacity of 48,713 people. The Spanish referee Carlos del Cerro Grande, will judge the opponents. PSG and Manchester City are rivals in Group A, which also includes Brugge and RB Leipzig.

PSG

Lionel Messi - Paris Saint-Germain F.C.

Parisians started in the Champions League with an unexpected draw in the match against Brugge (1: 1) and, consequently, took away only 1 point from Belgium. In Ligue 1, PSG has an entirely different situation. Mauricio Pochettino’s team does not always hold simple matches, but they have not lost points in any of them so far. The Parisians won all eight matches in the national championship and scored 24 points, thanks to which they are the sole leader of the Ligue 1 standings. Defender Sergio Ramos remains in the PSG infirmary. Parisian midfielder Marco Verratti is in doubt for the match against Manchester City. Forward Lionel Messi has recovered from injury and is preparing for the fight.

Manchester City

Gabriel Jesus - Pep Guardiola

Josep Guardiola’s team made a bright start in the Champions League. Manchester City beat RB Leipzig at home with a score of 6:3. Considering the draw between Brugge and PSG, the citizens are the sole leaders in Group A. In the national championship, Guardiola’s team is in the 2nd position, having scored 13 points. Manchester City is only 1 point behind Liverpool. In the last six matches of the Premier League, the “citizens” have one defeat, four wins and one draw. Defender Alexander Zinchenko and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will miss the match against Parisians.

Meeting statistics

PSG and Manchester City have met each other five times. The “citizens” have three victories on their account. Twice more, the teams played each other in a draw. PSG have never beaten Manchester City yet. The total score on goals scored is 7:3 in favour of the“citizens”. Last season, these teams met at the 1/2 stage of the Champions League final. “Citizens” then won both matches — 2:1 and 2:0.

Match forecast

Bookmakers consider Manchester City the favourite of this confrontation. We can agree with this, even taking into account the presence of Messi in the PSG squad. “Citizens”, having, in fact, a pronounced centre forward, differ in scoring goals in almost every match, and many of them bring them to the victorious end. Parisians have never lost yet, but they regularly experience problems, including with significantly inferior teams in terms of level. At the moment, the English club looks more solid.
