The Red Devils’ unbeaten run came to an end on Wednesday, despite what the head coach Jose Mourinho may think. Manchester United lost 2–1 at Hull in the EFL Cup Semi Final second leg to end a run of 17 successive matches without losing, but despite this they managed to book their travel to Wembley Stadium for the final, thanks to their 2–0 home victory. The last week or so hasn’t seen the best Manchester United performances though. They required a 94th minute Wayne Rooney free-kick goal to equalise against Stoke and looked lacklustre at best in their trip to Hull. They are now witohut a win in three maches and will be hoping to get back on winning track and continue pushing for the top four. As concerns United team news: they are free from injury problems, but Eric Bailly is unlikely to take part after his African Cup of Nations campaign. Meanwhile, the visitors are coming into this clash in high spirits after ending a shocking streak of form throughout December. They lost six and drew one of their seven outings over this period, but three successive wins has pulled them out of the Championship drop area, even if it is only on goal difference. The Latics’ record against Manchester United isn’t exactly promising for them though. They have lost a huge 18 of their 19 matches with them and scored just five goals. At the other end of the pitch they have conceded 58, so the signs aren’t that good for Wigan. Touching Wigan injury update: Alex Gilbey could return after a long injury layoff, but midfielder Nick Powell remains out for the season. Manchester United Vs Wigan: Head-to-Head Stats Manchester United have won six and lost one of their last seven meetings with Wigan.
