Manchester United are in advanced talks to complete the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred and Tottenham Hotspurs defender Toby Alderweireld with both deals set to gulp over £100m.
The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the Brazilian midfielder and are keen on wrapping up a deal with the Ukrainian club side before the World Cup commences in Russia. Fred has been likened to fellow compatriot Fernandinho regarding quality and style of play and Mourinho is hoping to bolster his midfield options for next season following the retirement of Michael Carrick.
Manchester City were close to landing the Shakhtar hitman in the January transfer window but missed out on the deal. However, City rivals United are set to beat them in the signature of the player. The Ukrainian Champions are demanding a fee in the region of £52.5m for his services.
On the other hand, Reports from London claims that Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld is set for a switch to Old Trafford with the North-Londoners asking for £50 million to conclude the deal.
Jose Mourinho is set to overhaul his defensive options and has been linked with top center-backs across Europe, Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane has been on the lips of most United faithful, but it looks like the Portuguese will settle for a Premier League defender.
