For much of the summer transfer window, it has seemed that Barcelona have been interested in signing Lautaro Martinez form Inter Milan. The 23-year-old footballer has played with Lionel Messi at the international level and bearing in mind his skill set, the Argentine international would be a great asset for the Catalans. However, it has come out that Ronald Koeman was also eyeing an alternative. According to Spanish TV channel Esport 3, the Barca boss was keen to sign Lautaro’s colleague, Romelu Lukaku. The same report suggests that Blaugrana went as far as preparing an offer for the Belgian striker, but it quickly became obvious that the price of any deal would make it impossible. The Catalans might miss out on Martinez for financial reasons too. Man United fans would definitely feel embarrassed if Lukaku had moved to Camp Nou as the 27-year-old player seems to be the latest in a list of talents they’ve failed to get the best out of.
