Goalkeepers

In goal, the great “superman”, Gianluigi Buffon and Salvatore Sirigu have already booked their flights for France. For third choice keeper Daniele Padelli, Marco Sportiello and Antonio Mirante will fight it out in the absence of Mattia Perrin who’s out of action. The experience of Italy’s most capped player, Buffon will be a key influence on the team who will once again captain his side. Buffon will also hold the command of captaincy throughout the competition. Read also: Team squad of Wales for Euro 2016

Defenders

Francesco Acerbi, Davide Astori, Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Armando Izzo, Angelo Obinze Ogbonna (West Ham/ENG), Lorenzo Tonelli. Astori and Acerbi are the most likely to be dropped ahead of the tournament one of the reasons being that De Rossi is plying his trade as a Central Defender and a Defensive Midfielder and that too. Cheillini and Darmian might also make it to the final team although they cannot attend the camp, due to their impressive reputation and qualifying showing.

Midfielders

Marco Benassi, Federico Bernardeschi, Antonio Candreva, Danilo Cataldi, Daniele De Rossi, Lorenzo De Silvestri, Stephan El Shaarawy, Alessandro Florenzi, Emanuele Giaccherini, Jorge Luiz Jorginho, Marco Parolo, Roberto Soriano , Davide Zappacosta. Out of favour Andrea Pirlo is not very likely to be travelling to Italy next week and both Jorginho and Riccardo Montolivo may not be part of Italy’s EURO 2016 squad. Stars Claudio Marchisio and Marco Verratti are injured and has a high probability of not making it. Read also: England 23 men squad for Euro 2016

Forwards

Fabio Borini (Sunderland/ENG), Citadin Martins Eder, Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne, Leonardo Pavoletti, Graziano Pellè (Southampton/ENG), Andrea Belotti and Simone Zaza is also going to meet each other at Coverciano. The Napoli winger could be excluded from the 23-men team due to his difficult positioning in Conte’s 3–5‑2 system. Antonio Conte has played different variations in formations throughout the campaign although the most preferable was the 3–4‑3 which also seems to be quite effective. However in the absence of some of his stars in those variations it will be interesting to see what he comes up with and who all he drops.
