Dani Carvajal: I’ve Not Bitten Anyone

Real Madrid full back defender Dani Carvajal denies biting Atletico Madrid forward Mario Mandzukic. The defender tweeted on twitter that he even did not attempt to do so. Mandzukic reacted to angrily to the subsequent contact, prompting speculation that Carvajal had sunk his teeth into the striker. Although the game ended with goalless draw, but Real Madrid failed some great chances of taking away goal lead.

He was also appeared to throw a punch towards the Atletico Madrid striker, though the incident went unseen by referee Milorad Mazic. Carvajal’s face was close to Mandzukic’s arm during their conflict, but the Real Madrid defender mentioned he did not attempt to bite anyone in last Madrid derby.

He tweeted on twitter “I saw after the game that “I’m accused of biting an opposing player. Let me make clear that I have not bitten anyone, or attempted to do so.”

The defender also defends Milorad Mazic [referee], “It’s difficult for the referee in these games. With the tension that was generated, he was good, I congratulate him from here.” He further said “We were the better team in the first half but we couldn’t be in the second. The pitch didn’t help. It can’t be 0-0 at the Bernabeu. It’ll be decided there.”

Former Bayern Munich forward Mario Mandzukic was also involved in another incident that left him bloodied after he appeared to catch an elbow from Sergio Ramos.

Atleti defender Diego Godin came forward and said “I was upset by Ramos’s elbow, but that happens in a game and that’s where it stays. The referee is there to decide what’s a foul and if they are yellow cards or not.”

It was first meeting Real and Atletico in this competition after final of Champions League 2013-14. First leg of quarter final ended with a draw which means return leg will decide which team is going to play semi final in this season of UEFA Champions League. The return leg will be played on 22nd April 2015 at Santiago Bernabeu.
