Carles Alena has confirmed his desire to stay at Barcelona amid his links with Real Betis, insisting he would remain with the Catalan club forever if it depended only on his decision. The 22-year-old player has made 41 appearances on the senior level for the La Liga side since joining the first team in 2016. The Spanish midfielder has failed to get a regular place in Barca’s starting squad and was moved on loan to Betis for the second part of the 2019–20 campaign. He returned to Camp Nou in the summer, and now he still needs to fight for a position and impress Ronald Koeman. The Spaniard has yet to play for Barcelona in La Liga this season and is already being connected with a move to Betis on a permanent basis. The transfer could happen in the January window. However, Alena says he is keen to stay in Spain, as he belongs to Camp Nou. The footballer could be given another opportunity to demonstrate his skills when Barcelona play host to Osasuna on Sunday.
