Barcelona can leave La Liga, if Catalonia becomes independent

Barca has beaten Las Palmas with 3-0 in La Liga match on Sunday. But today club president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirms that Barcelona could leave La Liga if Catalonia gains independents.

“In the case of independence, we would have to decide in which league club would play”, told Bartomeu on Monday. “We are in the difficult situation right now. However, we will take on any events with calm and wisdom”.

Catalan sports minister Gerard Figueras also told last week that Barcelona can decide where to play: in the Spanish league or in the neighboring country which is France, Italy or even (English) Premier League.

Tomorrow Barcelona members will join a strike in Catalonia against a violent crackdown by police on the independence referendum. After the incident, about 29 people are injured and over 800 need a medical attention. President Josep Maria Bartomeu himself made the decision to protest, and hopes to prevent the further indiscriminate use of force by police.
