In the first match of the 1/4 finals of the Europa League of the 2021/2022 season, Eintracht hosted Barcelona. Unfortunately, the teams drew, and the score was 1:1. The meeting was held at the Deutsche Bank Park stadium in Frankfurt.
The score was opened at the beginning of the second half. Eintracht Frankfurt striker Ansgar Knauff scored in the 48th minute, and Barca forward Ferran Torres scored in the 66th minute, assisted by Frankie de Jong. In the 78th minute, the second yellow card was received by the Eagles defender Tuta.

The meeting was served by a Serbian team of arbitrators headed by Srdjan Jovanovic. He was assisted by assistants Uros Stojkovic and Milan Mihajlovic. The reserve referee is Fran Jovic.
The return meeting of the teams will take place on April 14 at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona (Spain). The current winner of the Europa League is Villarreal, who beat Manchester United on penalties in the final.

Barcelona head coach Xavi spoke about the draw in the match with Eintracht.
“It was a challenging and physically strong opponent. We didn’t know how to stop them. We had to play tighter than we do. The pitch was also not of the best quality.
We created fewer chances than usual, but we are happy with the result. Usually, the one who owns the initiative makes more chances, but today it wasn’t like that. Barca didn’t know how to stop their diabolical counterattacks.
This is the Europa League. It’s always tricky here. Of course, it will be hard to play at Camp Nou, but our fans will support us,” Marca quotes Javi.
