Arsene Wenger told that Feyenoord’ manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is his best potential successor at Arsenal after retirement.
Due to the current contract, 68-year-old French will hold the position during this and next seasons. And according to the news, Arsene Wenger is looking someone to replace him after retirement, which isn’t easy task.
The manager has spent almost 23 years in the position of the Arsenal’ coach. Today he sees as top candidate Van Bronckhorst 42-year-old. The second is Eddie Howe 39, who is currently alongside with Bournemouth.
Van Bronckhorst played for Arsenal almost two years, having won FA Cup and reaching second place in the Premier League. Then Netherlander has joined Barcelona to continue his successful career. Since 2015 Giovanni was a boss of Feyenoord. He led them to victory in the KNVB Cup in his first season.
Now Feyenoord is struggling in Champions League and domestic campaign. Besides they suffer financial problems for many years, which affects the club’ efficientсy. Nevertheless, Wenger are hugely impressed by Van Bronckhorst’ achievements and hoping to see him at the Arsenal in the future.
Van Bronckhorst also shared thoughts about his mentor: “His [Wenger’s] philosophy was an example for millions of people. He is the best coach in the world”.
Arsenal’ board has insisted that Wenger should not pick his successor alone. However, they certainly will consider his opinion, when choosing next manager.
