Manchester City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain believes their biggest threat in Group F is German Bundesliga side 1899 Hoffenheim
The Premier League champions were placed in Group F of the 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League season alongside Shakhtar Donetsk and Olympique Lyon.
And to the Citizen’s director of football, his team has to take all rivals very seriously.
“They’ve done lovely work as a football club,” he told Sky Sports News.
“We need to take all the teams, but especially Hoffenheim very, very seriously.”
“We have Pep, all of his staff have been in Germany, so they know how strong Hoffenheim are,” he added.
“We want to be even closer than last season.”
“We played the quarter-finals, we had the perception we could have been even better so we will try to do that this season,” he concluded.
Pep Guardiola’s men are the bookmakers favourite to lift this season’s Champions League and the Spaniard will be hoping his lads translate that belief on the field of play.
