Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane is confident of overhauling Liverpool’s in-form winger Mohammed Salah as the Premier League top scorer.
Kane who has set the target of finishing the season as the top marksman for the third successive campaign running is currently on 24 goals, while his rival Salah is ahead with 29 goals. Thierry Henry remains the only player in Premier League history to win the Golden boot accolade thrice consecutively (2003-2006).
The Spurs forward’s confidence is further boosted in the remaining fixture list considering his team has more games (6) to prosecute compared to the Reds (5).
“I still believe I can,” Kane said. “Look, whatever happens, there are still games to go. I’ve got to focus on my game. I can’t control what he does.
“Obviously as a striker, it would be great to win the Golden Boot again, and I will keep working hard from now until the end of the season.”
Kane returned to full action in the 2-1 win over Stoke City that ended up in controversy after the second goal was awarded to teammate Eriksen, despite the replay showing the ball grazed the striker’s shoulder.
“I swear on my daughter’s life that I touched the ball, but there’s nothing I can do,” Kane said.
“If they turn it around, they turn it around. If they take my word, they take my word.
“It is what it is – the most important thing is that we won the game.”
However, it will take something special to overtake Salah who is currently in the form of his life this campaign. The Egyptian is now on 38 goals in all competitions and has been breaking records every week.
