The Neroverdi is far from the team that managed to finish in sixth position last season. Head coach Eusebio Di Francesco’s team featured in Europe for the first time in their history, but injuries unfortunately stretched an already-thin side to the breaking point. Key striker Domenico Berardi, who has been instrumental in Sassuolo’s impressive rise, has spent most of the time out on the treatment table. Sassuolo were dumped out of the Europa League group stages despite impressing in qualifying, and now are out of the Coppa Italia after being defeated by Serie B side Cesena. The Neroverdi do come into this match having earned a 3-1 victory over Pescara, which makes it back-to-back league wins for Sunday’s hosts. In addition, they have a comfortable gap between themselves and the drop zone, so relegation, for now, is not an immediate threat. Striker Alessandro Matri has been in inspired form lately, and will surely want to have a chance to shine against his former side. Sassuolo are set to sell Gregoire Defrel to Roma. They’re missing Simone Missiroli, Davide Biondini and Francesco Magnanelli in midfield.

There will be an element of revenge in mind perhaps, as the last time Juventus visited this ground, they suffered a shock defeat to the Neroverdi. However, supporters may tryly thank Sassuolo for that, as that proved to be the spark the Bianconeri needed to get their season back on track. Following that October 28th loss, Juventus lost just one game in the league en route to winning a fifth straight Scudetto title. The victories over Milan and Lazio were the kind of reaction Massimiliano Allegri would have demanded after La Vecchia Signora were defeated 2-1 on the road against Fiorentina. All of Juve’s defeats have happened on the road, and certainly, the last thing they would want is to end up dropping more points away from Juventus Stadium. Mario Lemina is Juve’s only injury worry, giving them a few options once again. Max Allegri has switched to a 4-2-3-1 formation of late, which allows the coach to start Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain.

Sassuolo Vs Juventus: Head-to-Head Stats

Juventus have won four of their last six against Sassuolo. Three of those victories have been to nil, while they won 3-1 in their first meeting earlier this season.
