Manchester City are set to land their long-term target Riyad Mahrez from fellow Premier League side Leicester City for £60m.
The deal is yet to be wrapped up, but it’s believed the transfer fee is around £60m, which is £20m short of the asking price(£80m) in January.
Manchester City made several bids to sign the Algerian winger in the past, but the Foxes were defiant as they held on to their most prized asset despite the player handing in an official transfer request twice.
Apart from City, Liverpool were also eyeing the services of the Leicester City forward who scored 13 goals in 41 matches last season. He was equally instrumental in their title-winning campaign that landed him the PFA Player of the year gong.
The majority of Leicester’s squad reported back for pre-season training on Monday, but Mahrez and Algeria team-mate Islam Slimani are not due back until next week having played in an international friendly on June 7.
