Real Madrid are currently planning to offer Luka Modric a new contract to stave off interest from Inter Milan, reports Marca
Modric was in outstanding form at the World Cup for Croatia, his displays earned him the Golden Ball award. The former Spurs talisman has been strongly linked with a move to Inter for the past week.
In fact, the Nerazzurri’s manager Luciano Spalletti confirmed over the weekend that they are indeed attempting to sign Modric.
“The club is doing what they can to bring it about,” said Spalletti
“I am dreaming of it like all the Inter fans; he would be fundamental for any team including ours.
Real president Florentino Perez has mapped up other strategies to ensure that Modric will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
While Inter have reportedly offered Modric a four-year deal with a pre-planned move to Jiangsu Suning to end his career, Perez intends to hand the Croatian a pay rise of €8m a year and a platform to enable him to become the world’s best midfielder.
The former politician will meet with the 32-year-old later today to discuss his future.
