Rangers are planning to sign Billy Gilmour, according to reports. The Chelsea midfielder started his youth career with Rangers before joining the Blues, and it seems that the Gers are planning to bring him back on a temporary basis in January. The 19-year-old moved to Chelsea in 2017, and since then, he struggled for regular game time. His first appearance in a competitive squad for the first team came in the 2019 UEFA Super Cup against Liverpool, when he was an unused substitute. As a first-team player, the footballer took part in 12 matches during the 2019/20 season, but that isn’t enough for him. At Ibrox, the Scotsman would benefit from more frequent exposure to action, giving him a chance to join the Euro 2020 squad. Moreover, the Chelsea head coach is plotting a £60million move for Declan Rice in January, and if he signs the West Ham celebrity it will trigger more competition for places in midfield. Therefore, Gilmour could be prepared for a Rangers return quite soon.
