Pep Guardiola bemoans wild tackles in Dortmund defeat

Pep Guardiola revealed his concern about the offensive tackles on his players after Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund defeated his team in the International Champions Cup game.

New signing Riyad Mahrez and Douglas Luiz, both suffered horrible challenges in the opening game of the pre-season, leaving the former Bayern gaffer concerned by the potential for injuries before the new campaign.

The Cityzens were targeted by Premier League rivals last season, and Guardiola fears that may continue in the new season. He equally tasked the referees to live up to the billing to cut the excesses.

‘I’m worried, but it is what it is. We try to play with it. That is why there is a referee. It is their job,’ Guardiola sighed.

A Mario Gotze penalty was all it took the Bundesliga side to seal a win Soldier Field, with a lot of young stars given an opportunity to showcase their talent.

Brahim Diaz, whose future has been a subject of discussion considering he has less than a year left on his contract was part of the Man City team. Pep Guardiola, however, opened up on the future of the young Spanish prodigy, saying  ‘Brahim was with us last season, he played a few games. He’s with us now, and we will see after Liverpool and Bayern. We will decide at the end of pre-season.’
