Mumbai City FC History
The All Indian Football Federation [AIFF] and IMG-Reliance decided to begin a new league in India. The Indian Super League [ISL] Mumbai have decided to register with the Mumbai District football Association [MDFA]. In July 2014, Ranbir Kapoor and Bimal Parekh, a famous chartered accountant have named their side ‘Mumbai City FC’. This new football club was founded in 2014 for Maharashtra in July 2014. During announcement of its name, an official at the district football association has confirmed to goal.com “We have received a letter from the Mumbai franchise and they have requested to be listed in the MDFA under the name of Mumbai City FC”.
Home Ground of Mumbai City FC
DY Patil stadium is the home ground of this football team. It was designed for cricket matches, but later it became the home ground of MCFC. It is located at D. Y. Patil Campus, Nehru, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Right now, the total audience capacity of DY Patil stadium is 55,000 spectators. It was established in 2008 specially for Indian premier league team Mumbai Indians. It hosted 3 IPL matches in 2008 and also, the final of IPL 2008 was hosted final of first IPL competition. For its construction, the roof was imported from Germany which is made up of fiber. It is manufactured with latest television technologies which are wisely used by top football stadiums. Permanent diesel generators have been also installed which helps during electricity supply. The arena can also host a live concert as it is equipped with best facilities. For best view of cricket or football match, two large size LED screens are installed for the spectators. As security of audience is the first priority, the stadium is equipped with earthquake-proof facilities. High advanced digital cameras are also installed which monitors the visitors, captures their images & sends them to the security crew. World class dressing room is also built for the players which is included with recovery areas and ice-baths.
