Maurizio Sarri is the new Chelsea boss

Chelsea has confirmed the appointment of former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri as their new manager following the sack of Antonio Conte.

Rumors were rife earlier this week that Sarri will complete a move to the London based club considering the uncertainties surrounding the future of Conte. Those reports later proved to be right with the Blues parting ways with the former Juve supremo who won two titles in two seasons.

Sarri, 59, has been hailed for his exciting style of play and was part of the reason he was offered a three-year deal to spearhead the affairs of the club. Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola will be appointed the assistant manager.

Sarri said: “I am thrilled to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career.

“‘I look forward to starting work and meeting the players on Monday ahead of traveling to Australia, where I will be able to get to know the squad and begin our match action.

“I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves.”
