Manchester City have sealed the Premier League title following Manchester United’s horrible home loss to West-Bromwich Albion.
Pep Guardiola’s tutored side have clinched their third League title in seven years after beating Spurs 3-1 and helped in the process by their neighbour’s 1-0 slip up to the Baggies. The former Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez was on hand to power in a header from a corner to secure a shocking win for bottom-ranked West-Brom.
The Cityzens would have wrapped up the title last week if they had beaten United. They raced up to a two-goal lead before the interval but ended up losing 3-2 in the second half, after an astonishing comeback by the Red Devils.
With 87 points from 33 goals, the Guardiola led team hold the joint record of the team to clinch the League title with five games to spare and the first since the 2013-14 season under Manuel Pellegrini. It’s also the club’s fourth League title and completes a Cup-double having won the League Cup in February.
