Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has become a new Liverpool’s midfielder. 24-years-old former Arsenal player has joined the squad for £35m.
Liverpool completed the 5-years-deal worth £120,000 a week. Oxlade-Chamberlain earlier rejected a new offer from Arsenal for £180,000 a week. Also, he has received an offer from Chelsea worth £120,000 a week which was denied as well.
Alex came to Arsenal from Southampton in the distant 2011. He made 198 appearances for Gunners since then and scored 20 goals. Here what he said in the Instagram post: “I know my decision to leave is a surprise for many. It was a tough choice after all these years in Arsenal. Still, I feel the decision is the right move to my ongoing development”.
In turn, Jurgen Klopp added that he is very happy and excited to see Alex in the squad: “Alex is the player who willing to take risks and has a desire to get even better. This is a tough decision to leave one great club and join another. He had many options and I’m delighted to get him on the side. I welcome him in our Liverpool family”.
After six years, three FA Cup wins and countless incredible memories, the time has come for me to move on from Arsenal. I want to publicly thank Arsene, the coaching and club staff and my amazing team mates for all of the incredible opportunities I have been given. Thank you so much to you, the fans, who have always had my back – I honestly couldn’t be more grateful. The club, and my time here, will always mean a massive amount to me. I know my choice might come as a surprise to many, and the decision to leave was tough after being a part of the club for so many years, but I feel that this move is right for the next stage in my ongoing development.
