Geoffrey Kondogbia is going to try his luck at Wanda Metropolitano. The 27-year-old player has joined Atletico Madrid on a four-year deal after spending three years at Valencia. The Central African Republic international has accomplished a €10 million move, replacing Thomas Partey in Diego Simeone’s club. The player will stay with Athletico until 2024. Los Rojiblancos got special permission to sign Kondogbia after Partey’s departure for €50 million, with La Liga establishing a deadline on November 5. The former Inter Milan man was strongly linked with a transfer from Valencia during the summer transfer window, with numerous clubs reportedly interested in his signing. The Spanish side wanted to balance their books by selling several first-team players. Atletico’s newest addition initially moved to Valencia on loan from Inter in 2017, before getting a permanent contract the following year. The midfielder made104 appearances in all competitions for Valencia. However, he harshly criticized the club’s chairman for “destroying” the squad earlier in October.
