Juventus Vs Monaco Live Online Commentary
The Old Lady did something that no other club this season has done last week as they won Monaco 2–0 away from home at the Stade Louis II, stopping the Ligue 1 leaders from scoring at home for the first time since November 2015. This result was also acheived because Juve rested some key players for their Serie A clash with Torino on Saturday, eventually drawing that game 1–1. Juventus can afford to do this though with their seven point lead in Serie A with just three matches remaining. Massimiliano Allegri’s men still managed to stretch their unbeaten run to seven games in all tournaments, and the fact they have managed to keep a clean sheet in five of these will be a huge boost to them. To make matters even more impressive two of these clean sheets came against Barcelona, meaning they have now kept a clean sheet in nine of their 11 UEFA Champions League matches this season. Their home ground of Juventus Stadium has become a real fortress for the team as they haven’t lost a single home game in any tournament since the start of last season, and they haven’t lost by two at home since a 2–0 defeat to Bayern Munich all the way back in 2013.
On the other hand, Monaco can be very pleased with how they’ve performed overall this season though. This Saturday they beat Nancy 3–0 on the road to keep them ahead of PSG on goal difference, with them also having two matches in reserve. They have done all this, along with their UEFA Champions League successes, without sacrificing any excitement to the game. They have scored some incredible number of goals this season, including 28 in the Champions League. However, Monaco have only managed three victories from their eight Champions League outings this season on the road, scoring 12 goals but conceding 15 at the other end. For them to pull back a two goal deficit against a Juventus side with such an impenetrable defence looks like a step too far for Jardim’s men.
