Jay Rodriguez charged by FA over alleged racial abuse of Brighton’s Gaetan Bong

West Bromwich striker Jay Rodriguez charged for alleged racial abuse of Gaetan Bong during game vs Brighton on January 13.

28-year-old charged for abusive and insulting words included a reference to ethnic origin/color or race. Remind, during the incident, Rodriguez and Bong were bumping each other and arguing. Than West Bromwich player held his nose and made a gesture as if Bong smells.

Gaetan immediately reported about the behavior to referee Martin Atkinson. He told that Rodriguez said, “You are black and you stink”.

“I blocked Rodriguez, which upset him. After he had some racist comments about me”, added Brighton player. “We cannot accept this behavior in 2018. I hope there will be sanctions. He said that because of the color of my skin”.

Also, Jay Rodriguez denies any charges and call its false, “I deny all of this false allegations and will take the legal advice for protecting my innocence”. West Brom officials fully support their player and will provide him any help, which he’ll need.

Rodriguez has to respond to the charge until Feb 16.
