Houssem Aouar was reportedly on the verge of joining the Italian club, but the transfer never happened. What was the reason? As it turned out, the deal failed because of Federico Bernardeschi.
The in-demand Lyon player was on the verge of joining Juve during the summer transfer window only for Federico Bernardeschi to scupper the transfer, according to reports. The 22-year-old footballer has been a target for several European giants, and the Italian side were expected to close the deal several months ago.
However, due to financial issues, the contract hinged on Federico Bernardeschi accepting the offer to join the French side on loan in exchange. The same report states that the Italian international didn’t like the idea of moving to France and turned down the offer. As a result, Juventus failed to sign Aouar.
Moreover, Arsenal are still plotting a move for the talented midfielder and could reactivate their bid to get him in January.
