Harry Kane eyes the Golden boot in Russia

England striker Harry Kane has set his sight on winning the Golden Boot in the World Cup and equally help England end their World Cup hoodoo.

Kane,27, has finished as the Premier League top scorer twice in the last three seasons. Last season, he finished second on the scorers’ chart with two goals behind Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah who set a new EPL record in a 38 game season.

However, the Three Lions skipper is keen on improving on the International scene after a barren run two years ago in France where England lost to Iceland in the knockout stages. The Spurs hitman has been in fine fettle for both club and country as he has scored a staggering 84 goals since then.

The striker was a huge subject of discussion in the last campaign when he contested a goal that was awarded to teammate Christian Eriksen in what many deemed as a desperate measure to win the golden boot at all cost. Kane has admitted he’s moved on from that and focused on landing the top prize at this summer’s tournament.

“As a striker, it is a competition that you want to win – I would be lying if I said I didn’t! In the Premier League I have won it twice and come second twice – hopefully this summer I can do something and get a World Cup one instead,” he said.

“It was always an England kit for me, rather than a club shirt,” he added. “My mates used to buy Real Madrid or Barcelona shirts when we were on holiday in Spain, but I was always England.

“I was very passionate, my older brother Charlie was very passionate – we were big England fans. We had a lot of heartache in the past, but I am very proud to represent my country.

“I captained my Sunday League team the Spurs youth team and occasionally wore the armband as vice-captain for Spurs. I have always been a player who wants to push players and make them and myself better. I like to lead by example.”

England are in Group G alongside Panama, Tunisia, and Belgium. They’ve been tipped to qualify from the group comfortably.
