They call him a legend. The legend was in great pain and was undergoing treatment for cancer for almost a year. Vialli has revealed about all this recently. He also mentioned that he is much better now and doing fine. He is going to work on his physique and health now.
He recalls when he used to wear a sweater under his shirt and no one ever noticed anything. This saved him from a lot of questions, sympathy and sorry lines from his colleagues. That was really something he wished for. At the crucial intersection of lives, people tend to break down when everyone begins to feel sorry for someone and that is more heartbreaking. That is why he never came out openly before.
He now wishes to inspire others from his story. In his own words, ‘I hope my story can help others, to deal with what’s happening in the right way.’
So, they call him a legend because of a distinguished career both in England as well as in Italy. Today, he is 54 years old and still feels the same energy and vigor to move in the field between the balls. Sampdoria was his home spending most of his years. He lifted the Cup Winners’ Cup, three Coppa Italia, and a Series A title. He left the club in 2000.
Nowadays he likes to spend time golfing. He also appears occasionally on Italian TV to take part in host shows as an analyst. It is going fine.
