Gary Hamilton, the manager of Glenavon is far from being happy that his team is facing Dungannon Swifts for the Irish Cup on Monday night. The boss of the Lurgan Blue vented out his feelings after the victory of his team by 2–1 against Ards during the weekends.
The squad of Hamilton is going to face the Swifts for the sixth round of the Irish Cup tonight and the manager doesn’t seem to be impressed with them.
He states that it is ridiculous and he doesn’t know who is the one making the decision, the NIFL or the IFL but there is no team in Scotland, England, and Spain which had been asked to play two games among three. There is no team that had to do this. It doesn’t happen and the way they are asking the part-time players to do this is absolutely disgraceful.
According to him, they need to take a long hard look at themselves. It is the top cup competition that you will come across in the country and the players are being asked to play after they played for 90 minutes on Saturday.
He says that if he had been a sponsor, he would have been pulling out of it. This is because they look for quality games and for people to come out and check it out. This would not happen with this type of football. He says whoever decided the match should get their head checked.
