France Vs Argentina: Preview, Odds and Predictions

Pre-tournament favourites France and Argentina are set to cancel each other out in the first game of the second round in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Argentina managed to scrape out of the group thanks to Morcos Rojo’s late winner. On the other hand, Les Blues confidently topped their group with seven points despite some unconvincing displays.

France and Argentina have faced each other 12 times in their history, with the French winning just two of those meetings.

Argentina have won both previous World Cup meetings against France, in 1930 and 1978. The winners of the match will meet one of Uruguay and Portugal in the quarter-finals on 6 July.

France vs. Argentina: Who will edge it?
Unsurprisingly, France are 11/8 favourites to win the match in normal time, and 4/6 to qualify.

Argentina are 13/5 to win the match and 11/10 to progress to the quarter-finals.

Although the French are favourites, Lionel Messi is 4/1 favourite to score the opening goal of the game.

Last goal to be scored after the 76th minute at 6/4 with Betway.

This one will be too close to call because both sides are still unconvincing, but on current performance, the French will edge this tie. Online bookmakers offers this World Cup is full of upsets, and you never know how it’s going to pan out. I will slightly stick with France in this one because of the youthfulness in the squad. It’s going to be a Griezmann and Messi show, anyone that turns up in this game may be the difference to seal a spot in the next round.
