FC Barcelona are considering making a move for long-term Liverpool and Arsenal target Thomas Lemar from Ligue 1 side Monaco according to reports from the Spanish press.
The French winger came close to leaving Les Monégasques last summer when both Premier League sides launched a massive bid for his services in the final hours of the transfer window but didn’t materialize.
There has been a massive exodus of players since Monaco won the French League title two seasons ago. The former French Champions have sold the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Bakayoko, Bernado Silva and most recently Fabinho to Liverpool.
Lemar, 22, is keen to follow in their footsteps as he seeks a fresh challenge abroad and has whittled down his preferred destination to three clubs. However, it seems there would be more interest from other big European teams.
According to Catalan daily sport, Barcelona are interested in bringing him to the Nou Camp. The Spanish giants have been in touch with Monaco and have started preliminary talks particularly the figures that can prize their star man away.
And it’s been mooted that Monaco are willing to do business for a fee somewhere in the region of £70m and £90m in the current transfer market. Fellow La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid and Premier League side Chelsea are also considering a move for the speedy winger but are yet to make any concrete move.
Lemar is part of the French squad traveling to Russia this summer. With two years left on his contract and an excellent display at the World Cup, there is a possibility the transfer fee could be skyrocketed.
