It is a rather tough decision to choose between both the great players for Juventus. Leonardo Bonucci’s desperate attempts to gain back the love from his fans are having a tough time doing so as the team gave away 10 goals in all competitions this season, mostly because of Bonucci’s inadequate defensive techniques. He failed to present a show like his earlier Juventus standards just like the audience feared that giving up a talented and promising to an aging Bonucci could backfire.
On the other hand, having a player like Medhi Benatia sitting on the bench makes the situation even murkier.
Despite his efforts to become a vital part of the team and establishing himself among the rest of them, Benatia has not been able to play in six matches but proclaims to be ready whenever his team needs him. However, he would be open to a move away if he does not get enough time which he desires.
Since Benatia has out rated Bonucci 7.13 to 6.86, Allegri should discover a way to get him in the starting rotation more, especially after his performance against Milan at the San Siro. Benatia deserves to get more play time owing to his last year’s performance. Benatia saved the team when Bocunni left and was a better player who hasn’t done anything to negate the sentiment this year.
However, both Benatia’s defensive awareness and Bonucci’s passing and launching the balls over the top can be used to draw out the best from the team.
