Everton is going to launch an investigation into supporters who had allegedly sung a racist chant regarding the defender Yerry Mina. The club is functioning along with Kick It Out after they had been alerted by the video footage which had been posted on a social media site. The video showed supporters of Manchester City singing a song that reportedly had racist stereotypes regarding Mina. This is the Premier League’s defeat last weekend.
Everton had previously warned fans that they are not going to tolerate racism towards anybody in the field. A statement by the club states that Everton Football Club knows about the video that had been posted on the social media site by some unaffiliated club of supporters.
They have also said that they are in contact with Kick It Out and are working along with them for investigating to get an insight into the matter. Everton has taken a zero-tolerance stance regarding any kind of racism.
Kick It Out has also criticized the chant has said that they are going to make sure that a clear message is sent out that this kind of behavior is not going to be tolerated. They said that Kick It Out knows about the footage regarding the racist chanting of the fans of Everton that have come up online. Racist stereotypes aren’t acceptable, regardless of the intention of the supporters for the players. They have contacted Everton about this and will work closely for sending out a clear message that this type of chant isn’t acceptable.
