Delhi Dynamos FC is a football club based in Delhi, India. The new soccer team was founded on 17th July 2014 to play in domestic tournament Indian Super League. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is the home ground of Delhi FC which is located in New Delhi India. DEN Networks are the current owners of this ISL team & Harm Van Veldhoven is the manager. On 13th April 2014, DEN Networks won the bidding of Delhi Dynamos FC & on seventeenth July, 2014, a new ISL club was formed. It was annoucned by the Indian governing body of football & IMG-Reliance would be accepting bids for ownership of eight of nine selected cities for the ISL competition. Rest of all teams of Indian Super League were formed in same year.
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is the home ground of Dynamos. The stadium was built in 1982. It was rebuilt in 2010 to add extra facilities & to increase seating capacity. Indian Olympic Association is the operator of JLN stadium. The arena is named after the first prime minister of India & can accomodate total 60,000 spectators in jam packed condition. For concerts, it can manage approximate 100,000 spectators.
The multi-purpose stadium is the 51st largest stadium all over the world & 4th largest in India. It was first built in 1982 to organize the Asian Games. Thereafter, it hosted 1989 Asian Championships in Athletics & Commonwealth Games in 2010. It also hosted One Day International cricket matches.
It was selected as the main ground for organizing 2011 South Asian Football Federation Cup. Indian visitors have also enjoyed one of the biggest farewell match at this ground featuring Indian national football team & German team Bayern Munich. It was organized to give a farewell to India’s former captain Baichung Bhutia which ended with 4–0 victory for Bayern Munich.
India’s biggest cable TV distribution company DEN Networks is the owner of this ISL team. The Telecommunications industry was formed in 2007. Mr. S. N. Sharma is the CEO of DEN Networks. The company recently received an equity investment of Rs. 600 crores.
DEN also has a 50–50 joint venture with Star DEN which is the exclusive distributor of over 25 leading channels in India. The company is well known in the industry for its reputation of being the most operator friendly service provider in the country and works closely with the local distributors and cable operators.
