Manchester United shot-stopper David De Gea is set to set to sign a new contract worth 350,000£ per week till 2023.
The Spanish number one, who joined the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has been a subject of a long-term transfer speculation in recent seasons. He almost completed a switch to Real Madrid but the deal broke down to administrative mistakes.
However, he’s been continually linked with the los Blancos despite his current contract running till 2019.
English tabloids the Sun, reported that the new deal is expected to be in place before the commencement of the World Cup in Russia with discussions set to begin this month.
If the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, pens down a new contract, he will be behind new signing Alexis Sanchez as the Club’s second highest earner.
Recently, De Gea admitted that he has received more plaudits and admiration in England than in his home country Spain. United are optimistic of extending the contract of their first-choice goalie.
The Red devils are currently second on the log, thanks to their defence and the goalkeeper who has managed 16 clean sheets this season.
United fans will be hoping De Gea produces his best form this Saturday to prevent Manchester City from wrapping up the league title.
