Once again, Cristiano Ronaldo becomes World’s best player of the year defeating Argentina’s forward Lionel Messi and German goalie Manuel Neuer. The Ballon D’or trophy was given by France legendary footballer Thierry Henry. For the second time in a row, and third time in his career, Ronaldo proved himself as the best player of the world.
He is that kind of player who took football to new heights and united every fan with his footballing skills and emotions.
Ronaldo has now joined Cruyff, Platini and Van Basten in winning three Ballon D’or. If you take a look on total number of votes, then you will find Ronaldo received 37.66% of votes. According to votes, the Barcelona’s forward finished at second spot and Neuer at third spot.

After collecting 2014 FIFA Ballon D’or award from Henry, Ronaldo said “It has been an incredible year. I would like to continue the work that I have done so far. I want to try to improve, to become better as each day goes by. I never thought that I would bring this trophy back home on three occasions and I want to win it again. I want to become one of the greatest players of all time.”
The twenty nine years old footballer won UEFA Champions League, Copa Del Rey and FIFA Club World Cup trophy awards with his Real Madrid teammates. He also bagged lots of individual trophies and became Portugal’s all time top goal scorer ever.
Though Ronaldo’s victory demonstrated that poor performances at last year’s World Cup could be easily forgotten, clearly the voters forgiveness would only stretch far: Luis Suarez, whose brilliant displays for Liverpool made him the outstanding player of the 2013–14 Premier League season and earned a 75 million summer transfer to Barca.
Nike have announced the new Mercurial CR7 football boots which are inspired with colors of Ballon D’or. These Rare Gold Boots will be on pitch this week only on the feet of Ballon D’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
