Liverpool are believed to be in contention for the signature of Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois according to recent reports.
The Chelsea shot-stopper has been linked to a move away from the club with European Champions Real Madrid keen on bringing him back to Madrid.
Jürgen Klopp is currently looking for a decent goalie to solve the problem at the backline as they are set to mount a title Challenge next season. The Reds have been linked to so many goalkeepers across Europe, with the likes of Alisson(Roma), Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid) and Donnorumma(AC Milan) top of the list.
However, reports from Italy revealed the Reds boss may be considering the options in England with Courtois as the preferred option.
Courtois, 25, has refused to pen down a new contract and wants to leave the Londoners despite winning the F.A Cup last season. Chelsea’s absence in the Champions League next season may likely speed up the Belgian’s decision and open the door for a mass exodus of key players.
With just a year left on the player’s contract, the Blues may be forced to sell their key player in a bid to raise cash than lose him on a free transfer.
It’s believed they may likely sell to Madrid than strengthening their fellow League rivals. The young Belgian is equally considering joining the Spanish giants as his family is currently residing in the city.
This, he revealed in an interview about his future back in February.
“My personal situation is related to the city of Madrid,” Courtois said.
“My two children live there with their mum. I have my daughter every day on FaceTime. She often tells me that she misses me. My son is still too small to communicate like that.
“Whenever I have the opportunity, I try to return to Spain. As a situation, it is not always easy. Yes, my heart is in Madrid. It is logical and understandable.”
A transfer fee of £40m has been placed on the player’s head. And Liverpool and Madrid would continue their rivalry, this time, off the pitch when they engage in a bidding war to land their transfer target.
