Courtois keen on Hazard to join Madrid

Thibaut Courtois may incur the wrath of Chelsea fans with his latest outburst. The Belgian goalkeeper admitted he would like to see Eden Hazard in a Real Madrid jersey

Courtois had made no secret of his desire to join Los Blancos because he wanted to be closer to his two children who both live in Spain.

However, yesterday, as Courtois, who won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup in his three-year spell at Stamford Bridge, posed for pictures at the Bernabeu, he said:

“I’d love to play alongside him again, and we’ll have to see what happens in the future. If he ends up here one day, that would be brilliant.”

The European Champions earlier this summer were interested in Hazard, but the £300m price tag Chelsea placed on him put a brake on that – and the Blues are determined not to sell.

Courtois’ words are sure to anger Chelsea fans further – as was his statement when he posed with the Real shirt.

“Today I am realising a dream. This is the best club in the world,” he said.

“I’m coming into a club that has just won three Champions Leagues in a row. It’s important to keep winning all the trophies we can.”

“I want to continue to add success to this club’s history. Our challenge this season is to win every title available to us. We’ve got a great squad, and I hope I can help the team to keep winning things.

“I received a lot of offers, some better from a financial point of view, but I wanted to come here and importantly, be close to my children.
