PSG and Real Madrid have joined Juventus, as suitors for Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen, who has left 18 months left on his contract. Contract negotiations have gone on for some time and lack of agreement has opened the door for Europe’s biggest clubs. Eriksen was negotiating a deal worth 70,000 per week with Spurs.
Dele Alli signed a contract worth more than double Eriksen’s amount. Harry Kane is on lucrative terms. He has been loyal to the club for years as one of the top players and deserves a major raise. And if the wages aren’t offered, he could well choose to leave in the future. The Times has reported he won’t sign new deal anytime soon. Real has been linked with the former Ajax man in the past. Cadena Cope said in October, he is seen as a long-term replacement for Luka Modric. Los Blancos are willing to take their time with Eriksen; they are leaning on Modric at present. Eriksen has been linked with Bianconeri, who suffered through a minor injury crisis.
Spurs have proved to be difficult to deal with in past but they have opted not to cash in on players even if their contract situation is tricky. Toby Alderweireld is still at the club. Manchester United is expected to return in January.
Whatever is the outcome of this, there is much expectation for the Tottenham star and it is for time to tell if he will be able to replicate the success and the hype.
