Chhetri Overtakes Messi On The List Of Goal Scorers

Sunil Chhetri, Indian striker has become the 2nd highest goal scorer on an international level among the ones who are involved actively. He has managed to surpass the Argentinian star player Leonel Messi. This was after his sixty-sixth strike in the opening match against Thailand in the AFC Asian Cup.


Sunil Chhetri had been able to accumulate 65 goals prior to the clash. It gave Indian the lead that it deserved in the twenty-seventh minute. The striker then slowly converted the penalty that had been handed after the hand-ball by Theerathon, the Thai defender for reaching out to his milestone.

The star player from India had been a significant contributor for Indian in all international games. At present, he is trailing Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar who has 85 goals.

Nonetheless, the 34-year-old player is not ready to draw comparisons in between the football superstar Messi and Ronaldo and himself. According to him, they are big superstars.

He goes on to state that it is not fair to compare his own self with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. He says that he is a big fan of both the players. Chhetri exclaims that he wants to score as many goals as he can for his own country and is not looking to compare himself with these two great players of the world.
